About Us

The college was established on the 11th of November, 1996, with eleven students and four teachers. At inception, the College was located at 10, Oroki Street, Coker, Lagos, in the same premises as Penny Private School, her mother institution. As a result of the rapid growth in the students’ population, fueled by the qualitative standard of teaching and learning provided by the school, the College relocated to her permanent site in 2000. This relocation afforded the school the opportunity to construct a more befitting structure to house the growing population.

Penny International College is located at Coker Compound, Orile-Iganmu, Lagos, and can equally be accessed through Coker Express Bus Stop, on the Apapa – Oshodi Express Road.

The College has fully equipped Science Laboratories, a fully stocked Library, state of the art ICT Centre as well as Functional / Special Rooms and Workshops for Vocational / Entrepreneurial Studies/Trade Subjects. There is a large playground, as well as College farm and fish ponds.

At Penny International College, every child is very important and deserves to be treated fairly and with respect, taking into consideration each child’s unique qualities, interests and needs.  To that end, we recruit talented and motivated Staff who are trained to impart knowledge with passion, love and care. This is in line with our vision : “To produce young and well rounded Nigerians that can soar above the challenges of our ever-changing world.” Hence, we adopt an eclectic curriculum that is attuned to authentic assessment which is broad-based and tailored to the unique needs of each child. Our results in various external examinations like WASSCE, NECO, TOEFL, SAT, UTME, POST UTME etc. attest to our dedication and productivity.

Through the years, we have participated and won prizes in numerous competitions – Champions, Helmbridge Science Competition from 2005 – 2014 : A feat that is unrivalled in the history of the competition. We won the maiden edition of BRF Quiz Competition organised by Lagos State Government. The trophy was presented to the Students of the College by the then Deputy Governor, Princess Sarah Sosan. We have, equally, recorded heartwarming performances at the Bible Society Competition, Chess & Scrabble Competition, Spelling Competition, JETS Competition, National Mathematical Centre: Mathematics and Science Olympiads Competition, the Cowbell Mathematics Competition, MAN Mathematics Olympiad Competition, STAN Competition, PZ Chemistry Challenge, NNPC Science Quiz Competition, Stockholm Water Project, Oluwole Awokoya Chemistry Competition, Naija English Competition, Debates, Essay Writing Competitions and so on.

We strongly believe in an all round development of our students. We engage our students in both indoor and outdoor sporting activities such as table tennis, chess and scrabble, fooball, basket ball, etc.  We were part of the Lagos State Contingent to the National School Sports Federation tournament where our students won five (5) medals: 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medal) for Lagos State.

In recognition of our contributions in both academics and sports, we have received Letters of Commendation from Lagos State Government in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and still counting.
