1. The Foundation and Early Beginnings (1996)

Penny International College was officially founded on November 11, 1996. It was established as a secondary school subsidiary to build upon the success of its nursery and primary arm, Penny Private School (which was established earlier in 1985). The college started from very humble beginnings, opening its doors on day one with a tiny pioneer group of just eleven (11) students and four (4) teachers. 2. The Visionary Founder

The school was envisioned and established by the Late Chief Ifeolu Adeniyan alongside his wife, Mrs. Bola Adeniyan. Chief Adeniyan was a highly acclaimed accountant, advertiser, philanthropist, and passionate educationist. His pragmatic leadership style and vision aimed to establish an affordable yet top-tier educational institution that could provide high-quality knowledge mixed with strict godly discipline to children in the Orile-Iganmu and Coker urban communities.

3. Institutional Expansion and Corporate Growth

Over the years, the student population exploded from its original 11 students into thousands of alumni. To accommodate this massive growth, the school established its main campus at 48, Coker Compound, Oroki Street, Coker Village, Orile Iganmu, Lagos. Administratively, as the institution grew in asset size, Penny International College Ltd was officially incorporated as a private company limited by shares to further formalize its corporate structure and operations.

4. Key Academic Milestones & Community Impacts

Penny International College is highly regarded in Lagos State for its competitive student performance in both external examinations (WAEC, NECO, JAMB) and regional co-curricular competitions. Notable highlights in its history include:

• National Academic Trophies: The school has won numerous state and national awards. Most notably, the college won the intense 19th National Bible Quiz Championship organized by the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), defeating schools from all other zones of the country with a stellar score of 90 points.
• Arts and Culture Promotion: On November 5, 2022, the college made historical tracks in the local creative arts community by hosting the maiden edition of the Mcphilips Arts and Educational Foundation (MAEF) poetry competition, aiming to promote literary writing among secondary school students in Lagos. Technological Adaptation: During the global disruptions of 2020, Penny International College became a fast-mover in the Orile education sector by rolling out an independent virtual E-learning portal to transition its junior and senior secondary students into active online classes. Today, the college continues to stand as a landmark institution in Coker/Orile-Iganmu, heavily recognized for transforming average students into brilliant academic leaders and professionals across Nigeria.
